Hershey Half

I ran the Hershey Half-Marathon on Sunday. In past years I've run the Baltimore Half-Marathon as my fall race, but I decided to go with a new one since Baltimore was getting too crowded for my taste. Hershey only had about 2700 participants, and the half-marathon was the only race; there was no full marathon. The course was great. It started in the parking lot of Hershey Park, went through the park, then meandered through some country roads before returning to the park and finishing in the stadium there. I clocked myself at 1:32:43 and was very pleased with that. My goal going in was 1:35, so I really exceeded that, coming close to a 7-minute mile pace. I really started to tire between miles 11 and 13, but I managed to finish strong, and each of my last four miles was under seven minutes. According to the posted results, I finished in 68th place, which is not too bad. I'll definitely consider running this race again next year.
