Giants win World Series

I'm a little late with this post, but earlier in the week the Giants beat the Rangers to win their first World Series since 1954. While I'm extremely happy that someone other than the Yankees won, I was a bit disappointed that it wasn't a closer contest. Texas did manage to win a game, but their ace, Cliff Lee, was beaten twice after dominating other teams earlier in the playoffs. Game 1 was a sloppy affair for both teams, with base-running blunders and errors in the field. One play that stands out was when Tim Lincecum had a Ranger in a rundown between third base and home. He ran the guy back to third but never threw the ball to get him out. As far as pitching, though, Lincecum was stellar, getting the victory in games 1 and 5. So now the Giants have ended their World Series drought, joining teams such as the White Sox and Red Sox who have done the same over the past few years. I wonder what to expect next -- maybe a Cubs victory next year?
